"The VCAA has been asked by the Minister for Education, the Hon James Merlino MP, to consider whether there should be an explicit requirement for students to meet minimum standards of literacy and numeracy in order to be awarded the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL).  The Minister has asked the VCAA to consult widely and provide a report by the end of August 2018."

A word from Parents Victoria President, Sharron Healy …

It's time for our political parties to fund our schools on a truly needs-based formula - no more special deals! With over 80% of Australia's children being educated in public schools, we public school parents are by far the majority vote holders - so why is the influence of so few having such a big impact on the education of our children?  Give us the #RealGonski

The Age March 19, 2018

.... is an initiative of the Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) calling on the Victorian Government for more trained, supported youth workers.

Parents Victoria is a supporter of the campaign asking political parties to commit to:

  • ·A state-wide youth work strategy to put youth workers where they're most needed
  • ·A new initiative to recruit, train and employ youth workers from diverse communities
  • ·Employ more youth workers to help address our state’s priority issues
