It’s one of the most important skills children learn and the teaching of phonics plays an important role in helping kids to become confident, fluent readers.
The Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership has worked with Parents Victoria to produce a simple, evidence-based guide to phonics. It’s designed to provide families, parents and carers with advice on what phonics is, why it’s so important, and how you can support children to learn about phonics in a fun and engaging way. The guide includes a list of fun activities you can print out and stick to the wall or the fridge, so you can practice phonics together at home.
