Chief executive of Parents Victoria Gail McHardy said households could play a role in helping schools to cope in the current climate.
“The best job that parents can do is to be supportive as best they can, communicate effectively and work together [with schools]. Because some of those workforce issues are well beyond the school’s control,” Ms McHardy said.
“We need to put a lot of confidence and trust into the profession to do the right thing for the children.”
